I enjoyed reading your account of the Naked Sea installation. I was there too and, despite the paparazzi (I was scared by one low-flying plane that buzzed us and thought it might actually crash) and the sharp rocks which were hard to walk on, I found it to be an overwhelmingly positive experience, much more powerful than I had anticipated. I did it for the Dead Sea, for art and for freedom of expression in Israel. Actually, it was hard for me to get up the nerve until I heard the religious Knesset member on TV ranting about Sodom and Gomorra. He annoyed me so much that I had no more doubts that I would do it. Wild horses couldn't keep me away after that! Shalom :-)

Well written piece. As one of the one thousand, though, I would have attended if it were in the desert just as readily. I think the real problem with the Dead Sea is not greedy factories, but the State of Israel, which channels fresh water to the cities via the National Water Carrier, rather than let fresh water turn into salt water in the Dead Sea. It's a very serious problem.
